The first time that I walked into Gail's shop I was only looking at electric guitars(The G&L's are fantastic), I walked right by the Tanglewood guitars without picking any up, however, they did catch my eye, and I did look at the price's. I walked out with a new G&L ASAT S and was on my way.
When I got home, I looked Tanglewood guitars up on the internet. My son had been looking to upgrade his Ovation for some time. He was looking at lower end Martins and Taylors. I decided to get my motorcycle out and took a ride to Gail's shop to check out and play a Tanglewood for my son. I picked up a TW15 DLX first and lightly strummed it. (I can play, but my fingers get REAL stupid in front of people)I could not belive how loud, clear and full the tone was without using a pick! My fingers were getting stupid and I could feel it, but I strummed a cord a little harder and was rewarded with a beautiful sound! I picked up a TW15 NSB and found the exact same clear, full, loud volume I found in the DLX. I went outside and sent a text to my son, he needed to play one of these things!
Well he did play one later that afternoon. He LOVED them both! He picked up the NSB because of the B-Band electrics installed in the guitar. He plays worship in our church. Everyone noticed the new guitar AND the SOUND it has. He is very happy with the TW 15 NSB and is glad he didn't get one of the other two brands he was looking at.
Now, I'm sitting at home, I get out my Guild D-4 guitar and I start doing a side by side comparo. There is NO contest! The tanglewood win's hands down! I change out the strings on the Guild, because that HAS to be why the Guild dosen't sound better right? WRONG! The thaglewood wins again. SO BACK to Gail's shop I go! I pick up the TW15 DLX, strum it just to make sure, and fall in love with the rich, full, loud tone. Now the good part, I take the guitar to a buddy's house, he plays a Martin D16 Custom. He gets the Tanglewood in his hands, starts to play it, and I see his face light up! After playing it for about ten min. straight, he say's, "Man, if I had played this guitar before buying my Martin, I wouldn't have bought my Martin! AND I could have saved a BUNCH of money!"
This thing is fantastic! Howcome I haven't ever heard of Tanglewood before?" I told him that they are just now making their way to the U.S. That they have been the best selling Guitar in England for a while now. I also told him that Gail is the only dealer in California to sell them right now, and if he can get a player to pick up and play one of these, he'll most likley sell the guitar! My friend agreed and is now thinking of selling his Martin and buying a Tanglewood.
Buy one of these guitars now, while they are still at bargin prices! Once these guitars get "found out" the prices WILL go up!!!
